Whatcha Working on Wednesday

I have one thing that I have been working on and two things that Jimmy's been working on. First of all, I finally completed my first stitchery. I was so scared to start it. But when I finally did start I loved it and didn't want to stop. So, I think I have found my new favorite thing.

It is definitely not perfect but I am happy with the way it turned out. I honestly don't remember who I got the pattern from but it was a freebie and I know I found it in blogland. Okay, now on to Jimmy's projects. We found two old tables in the basement at our church. They were not being used nor had they been used the almost six years that we have been there. So, they really needed a new home. And what better place than our's. Here are the before pics....

And the halfway finished pics......

They will probably be similar to the coffee table when they are finished.

Now ya'll click on over to Leslie's and check out what everybody else has been working on.

Have a good evening.

Dumpster Diving

My husband is a dumpster diver! And he drug Katie with him. Jimmy and Katie went to take off the trash this morning and they had a few other things to do. I was sitting at the kitchen table stitchin and I heard a car door. I knew it wasn't time for them to be back yet. Katie came running to the door and told me to come look.....

I couldn't believe it. They didn't actually have to dive for it because it was sitting out by the dumpster. One of the little drawers up top was in the dump but Jimmy said he grabbed it with a mop handle. The little drawer in the middle has a lock on it and it was locked. We thought maybe it had a treasure in it. Jimmy took a screw driver and opened it and all that was in it was a sleeve that you roll dimes in. It needs alot of work and I'm not sure what we'll do to it just yet but I'll let you know. Katie has already claimed it. I guess that's only fair since she was with Jimmy when they found it.

Hope you're having a great day!

A Coffee Table Re-do

In my last post I told you that we went to a TS in Marshville. We found a coffee table (that was $10.00) for our den. We had a garden bench in front of the couch and I really liked it there. But when we re-arranged the living room we cornered the loveseat and two end tables and a coffee table were too much. So, we moved the garden bench and put it in front of the loveseat. It looks good there and we moved the coffee table to the den but I really didn't like it there. So when I saw the one in the TS I told Jimmy I wanted it. Here it is before....

It didn't really look too bad...it had some water rings on it. I was having the hardest time deciding what color to paint it. Well, I asked my friend Jenny and here is what she suggested.......

I absolutely love it! Jimmy painted it antique white then he distressed it. It looked whitewashed and he wanted to leave it like that. But when he put the stain on he was sold. Now we are going to replace the end tables in the living room with some old ones and I think we are going use this same color. I'll post about them later in the week. Also, the candle tray sitting on the table is the one I made following Char's tutorial.

I'm really behind on reading the blogs that I follow and if I haven't commented you in a while please forgive me. I'm gonna try to catch up on my reading tonight.

Have a great evening!

Whatcha Working on Wednesday

I honestly didn't mean for a week to go by since my last post. Hope you had a good Valentine's day. A group of us from our church went out to eat at The Mayflower in Cheraw. We had a fun time and of course we enjoyed the good food.

That morning we went to Marshville to Olde Tyme Marketplace. Beth is so sweet and I love talking to her. She has the neatest shop. When we got there and got out of the van Jimmy just happened to see the words "Thrift Shop" painted on the building next door. We just had to go check it out. They had bin after bin of quarter items. And I went over to the housewares section and look what I found....

Can you see the Marmalade symbol on them? I'm tellin' ya...it was another sign. They were $2.00 for the set. The smallest one is missing the lid but that's okay. Jimmy painted them and I slapped the labels on. And now look.....

On the way to Beth's shop we stopped at a TS in Wadesboro. They really didn't have much but their household stuff was 75% off. We found these candleholders that are red trimmed in gold.

I think they were like $1.50 for the pair.
And after....

Last Wednesday Char posted a tutorial on making a candle tray. It sounded easy so I thought I would give it a try. And I did it!

Now I have to decide what color I want it. Decisions, decisions.

Head on over to Leslie's to see what everyone else is working on.

Hope you have a great day!

Whatcha Workin' on Wednesday

I just decided to join in. And here's what I've been working on today.....

We went to a TS Saturday morning and found this box. I'm not sure what it would have been used for. At first, I thought maybe a bread box but it has a divider in the middle of it. Jimmy spotted it and it was only $4.00. I sanded the lovely flowers off the lid and then Jimmy painted and distressed it.

I love the way it turned out. I haven't decided where I'm going to put it yet. But for now it's sitting on the freezer in the kitchen.

Head on over to Leslie's and see what everyone's been working on.

Hope you have a great evening.

A Birthday and A Living Room Redo

Today is my nephew's 18th birthday. Oh, it is so hard to believe. It seems like yesterday we got the phone call that my sister was in labor. She lives two hours away and by the time we got there Robert Tyler Richards was born. Happy Birthday, Tyler.

And now, on to our redo. Our living room has yellow walls with white trim. The curtains are navy tab top panels. A few weeks ago Jimmy made the comment that our living room isn't prim. He thought maybe we should paint it. Well if you remember not long before Thanksgiving we decided to paint our bathroom. Remembering that, I didn't like the thought of painting the living room. So we decided if we got new curtains and rearranged maybe that would help. And guess what we did Saturday? All day Saturday!

This is before. I was mainly trying to get the curtains in this pic.

And after...

I am hoping that we can find some shutters to go in the windows on the sides and leave the middle window open.

Well, what do you think?

I hope you have a great evening.

Another Award and Some Pics

I got another award. Thank you, Joy for giving me the Lemonade Award.

Two posts ago I showed the new cabinet that we got. Gina asked where we put it and she wants to see pictures. We put the cabinet in our kitchen and here are some pictures

Thank you to all of you who gave me suggestions for the Pepsi box. Later on I'll let you know what we decided to do with it. Have a great evening, well what's left of it.

What Would You Do With This?

A few weeks a
go Jimmy brought this home from work

He loves to bring freebies home. He suggested painting it, putting it on our back porch, and planting flowers in it. So, what do you think we should do with it?

Hope ya'll have a great weekend.

Lookie, Lookie What I Got

Last Saturday Jimmy, Katie, and I went to a flea market in Fayetteville. We had been told that it was a good place to go. So NOT true. There were several rows of tables where people were selling outside and then there were booths inside. We looked around outside and then inside. Alot of the booths were closed and some of them I wouldn't even waste my time going in. But we came to one that looked interesting. We went in and looked around. And I noticed Jimmy heading toward the corner. There was the cabinet that I have been wanting for our kitchen since our vacation to the Amish country in Pennsylvania. We actually found one at an antique shop while we were there for $100.00 but in order to bring it home we would have had to leave the girls in PA. Since then I have been on the lookout for one. As we were leaving Saturday morning headed to Fayetteville. I jokingly said, "Wouldn't it be nice if we could find a cabinet for $25.00?" We found it but not for $25.00.

The knobs on it match our Marmalade dishes so I knew it was for me. See the pink sticker in the corner? It says $75.00. Jimmy asked the lady if she would take any less than $75.00 and she said, "$60." He said, "What about $50.00?" She called her husband over and asked him and he said, "Yes." Oh, I was a happy girl! We carried it out to the truck and brought it home. After 3 coats of paint and some new hardware......

Well, what do ya think? You see why I am a happy girl? I just put some things in it until I can find the perfect stuff for it. Now I have an excuse to go shopping. HeHe! Hope ya'll have a good evening.

Blessings,
