Snow and a New Blog Friend

We finally got some snow Tuesday. It started sometime during the night Monday and when we woke up Tuesday morning it was so pretty. I think we got about 3 inches. Most of it melted away today:(

Katie and her friends had alot of fun. Kelsey went out for a little while but she didn't stay long.

My friend, Jenny from Homespun Collectibles in Robbins has started a blog. Please stop by for a visit. Hope ya'll have a great evening.

Tamale Pie and Two Awards

When I set out on this journey in the blogging world my goal was to try to write every day. In the beginning I did really well. Then Thanksgiving came and Christmas followed right behind. So, I thought once Christmas was over and life was back to normal it would be easier to sit down to write. But it seems like all I do is sit down to read other blogs. I think I could sit here all day and read and I'm finding it so hard to write. Maybe it's that I don't feel that I have anything interesting to say...I just don't know. Anyway, I'm here now to write.

Yesterday for lunch I made Tamale Pie. When I make chili I like to fix Martha White's Buttermilk Cornbread to go with it. The last few times I have looked for it Walmart has been out of it. I saw another package and decided to try it.

On the back of the package is the recipe for Tamale Pie. It was really good and very easy to make so I want to share it with you.

2 (15 oz.) cans chili with beans
2 oz. (1/2 cup) shredded
cheddar cheese
1 (6 oz.) pkg. Martha White Cotton Country Cornbread Mix
3/4 cup water

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Pour chili into ungreased 8-inch square (2-quart) baking dish; sprinkle with cheese.
2. In small bowl, combine cornbread mix and water; stir until smooth. Spread evenly over cheese.
3. Bake at 375 de
grees for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
Makes 6 servings

Of course this is after we dug into it. I also doubled the recipe so we could have leftovers for supper.

Last week I was so excited to receive my very first award from Lisa at House of Many Blessings.

And my 2nd....
from Beth
at Olde Tyme Marketplace
(Oh, I hope I got the link thingy right!)

Thank you to both of you. I am choosing not to pass them on because so many of you have requested not to be awarded.

Well, I hope you all have a good rest of the week and stay warm.

Blessings,

Happy New Year!

I know it's a few days late but I still want to wish each of you a Happy New Year!

We had a wond
erful Christmas. Remember this picture I shared with you?

Here's what it was.....

...A Willow Tree Angel of Light. Kelsey said when she saw the star on it she knew she had to get it for us. Good job, Kelsey! And thank you, again. That was so sweet of you.

Jimmy and I got all of the Christmas decorations taken down and put away last Saturday. We usually go shopping for wrapping paper, Christmas cards, Christmas plates and napkins for the family get-togethers, and stuff like that. But we decided to wait and go on Monday. I was really surprised by how much stuff Target had left. Then Katie and I went to Walmart and they had even more than Target did. Anyway, now our house is back to normal. And it's nice to relax and not worry about all the stresses that Christmas brings.

We start school back tomorrow. Yuck! I have really enjoyed the last two weeks off but it just went by too quickly. I have a few school goals for the new year. One of them is to help Kelsey more with her school work. I have kinda left her to do alot of it on her own and I'm not happy about that. She is in 11th grade and it makes me sad to know she only has one more year. She has grown up way too fast :>(

I think that's all I have for now.

I Don't Know How to Remove This Christmas Background!

I haven't had too much time to sit down and write. But last night and today I have been trying to get this Christmas background off of my blog. I'm sure it is some simple thing that I am not doing. Kelsey helped me put it on there and now we just can't get it off. Please help!
Blessings,
Susan
